This is a surprising book. You pick it up, look at the cover and its not much at all. But when you start to read, its an amazing, original book. Its about a girl named Tamara, who is in foster care, and a 90 year old woman, Jean, who despises everything about growing old and the nursing home she is in. They met when Tamara's class goes spend time with the elderly, and both learn how useful they are to each other. Tamara wants to take a modeling class in Vancouver B.C. and Jean wants to go see The Ring, a series of operas, in Seattle. Together they devise a plan, filled with lies and excitement, and go on their big adventure. At times this book can be hilarious, because of how alike Tamara and Jean are, which you get to see both sides of with alternating chapters. At others, it can make you feel just like one of the characters, anticipating what happens next. Overall this is a fun story, that makes you want to have a relationship just like Tamara and Jeans.

My Favorite Author...

Deb Caletti! She is a true teen author, who mixes friendships, love, family, and school with dramatic twists and scandal to each character. Her first book, The Queen of Everything, tells the story of Jordan, a high-schooler with a less-than perfect boyfriend, a bad job, and a father who is having a dangerous affair. The book has been banned in schools for "sexual situations and profanity", but I, being 12 at the time, wasn't fazed at all. I mean, you walk down the halls at school and learn a new inappropriate thing or two almost every day. I highly recommend this book. Caletti's second book, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart, was a National Book Award Finalist. 16-year old Ruby falls in love with the bad boy of her neighborhood, and later goes on the biggest adventure of her life (with senior citizens). This book is AMAZING.

Her other books: The Nature of Jade (a girl who works with elephants at the zoo falls in love with a single teen father. My favorite book of all time!), Wild Roses (a step-father who created a tangle of lies for fame, slowly goes insane, messing up the lives of 17 year old Cassie and her mother), The Fortunes of Indigo Skye (18 year old Indigo works as a waitress, has a crazy but good home life until one of her customers leaves her a 2.5 million dollar tip!), and The Secret Life of Prince Charming (a book all about girl power!).

Overall, in my book, this lady can do no wrong.

The Curtains Open.....

......and onstage there is a computer, with this blog pulled up on Internet Explorer(or Fire Fox, or Ice Weasel, take your pick).
